St Peter's
Port Isaac
St Peter's

Welcome to St Peter's at Port Isaac

The delightful fishing village of Port Isaac was part of St Endellion parish until a hundred years ago.  It was so much a Methodist village that John Wesley described it as “the liveliest place in the [Methodist] circuit”.  And then in 1913 Port Isaac gained its first Vicar and St Peter’s, which was still fairly new and had been a C of E chapel since only 1884, became a parish church.

Now, sadly, the two Methodist churches have closed and St Peter’s itself is home to just a small congregation.  But...  people love to join us... at least from time to time, or on holiday.  And there are members of other churches in our cluster who say “I just love going to St Peter’s.”  Indeed, the villagers themselves may not be frequent worshippers but they are all friendly and supportive of the church and its work.

I asked our church council (PCC) what to say on the website, and they replied:

“Tell them we would love to see them!”
“Tell them about the community exhibition area that’s going to be in church!”
“And the Christmas tree festival!”
"Tell them the Fishermen's Friends have just won a contract with Abbey Road!"
“And the Frank McNichol mural all over the back wall!”
“And have a photo of Francis lighting a candle!”
“I would like a view of the harbour.”
“As long as you don’t mention Doc Martin!”

We have Holy Communion services every Sunday morning in St Peter’s at 9.45am.  Do come and join us: just a few people and the innumerable host of heaven!

News & Events

Queen Honours Janet

Congratulations to Janet Townsend, organist at St Peter's Church for many years and prominent in the field of music in the local area, who was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to music and the community of Port Isaac.  Everyone agreed it was well-deserved.

Mini-Markets

Over £300 was raised for St Peter’s Church at the summer mini-market held in the Church Rooms on Wednesday.   There was a raffle and a variety if stalls and many visitors and local people attended.  The next mini market will be the Christmas market on  Wednesday 20th November, 10.30am at the Church Rooms, Port Isaac.
